STILL IN TRAINING

Naughty things Missy does to be aware of

  • Bin Bags: Jumps and grabs bin bags if you are changing the bin (suggest popping her in the crate before getting bin bags out)

  • Tea Towels: Jumps for tea towels if they are on the edge of the kitchen counter

  • Digging: Digging holes in the garden occasionally … if you see her doing this tell her ‘no’ and distract with a treat or encourage her inside with ‘where's your TOY’

  • Eating anything…..!! Particularly bones and tissues from the pavement. We try and keep an eye out for tissues on walks and avoid them... but she is a speedy madam!

  • Barking: Sometimes barks at people if they are standing around in the kitchen... point to her crate and tell her to go 'on your blanket' maybe also give her a chew toy or a treat and this should calm her

How to calm Missy down

  • Blanket: Tell her to go 'on your blanket' or 'on your bed' and toss giver her a treat/kibble

  • Harness & Lead: Pop on her harness and lead, she will calm down - this shows her we want her to be calm

  • Treats: Treats/training doing ‘find it, paw, boop, spin’

  • Say no: Please do tell her "no" or "stop" she is starting to respond to this

  • Distract her: Where’s your ‘Toy’ she will look around for one and bring it to you

  • Crate: You can also put her in her crate (by tossing a treat and saying in your bed) if needed and close the door, we do this sometimes - she will normally be okay. Sometimes she will whine.

  • Chew toys: She loves them

    • They live on top of her crate in the basket or in the top drawer of the sideboard in the living room

    • The antlers are special ones, these are a treat and will normally calm her down
